  • BillingAt Anthropic's API rates, to the account whose key the gateway's route holds. A claude.ai subscription is not used for a routed session.
  • Model namesclaude-haiku-4-5-20251001, claude-sonnet-5-5, claude-opus-5-5, claude-fable-5-1, claude-sonnet-4-6, claude-opus-4-6: one route each.
  • Request sizeAbout 300 KB for a trivial turn. Give each route max_body_bytes, up to 64 MiB. The default is 4 MiB.
  • DetectionsClaude Code's own instructions hold text shaped like an email address, so each turn shows a contact detection. Keep record-only mode until the policy accounts for it.
  • ContentThe record holds none. The text is kept only with prompt capture on, in your own bucket under your own key.
  • Cost of a turnOn 18 Oct 2026, a trivial turn on claude-haiku-4-5-20251001 was about 34,000 cache-write tokens, about USD 0.04. Saible meters it as one gateway decision.
What to know before routing Claude Code
Steps
  1. 1Register an application such as claude-code under Control → Registry and store its key.
  2. 2Give the gateway a route to https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages for each model id Claude Code sends.
  3. 3For one session only, set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to the gateway and ANTHROPIC_API_KEY to the application key.
  4. 4Run claude -p "say hi" and find the turn under Evidence → Ledger.
